The delicious smell of food surrounded me as I made my way down the stairs. I could hear Sebastian moving in the kitchen. Following the sounds, I made my way to the kitchen’s entryway and stopped. His back was to me. Facing the stove, he looked like he was in a zone. Watching him made my mouth water, and not because of the food. His black t-shirt hugged his muscles in all the right places, the way his gray sweatpants hung low on his hips had heat rushing through me; a fluttery feeling forming inside my stomach, making it impossible to focus on anything but his body.

He looked over his shoulder and smiled when he saw me standing there, “Hey, dinner’s almost ready.” That frigging smile, I’d become addicted to it.

“Can I help you with something?” My voice had a tremble to it and I tried to shake it off. I didn’t want him to notice the way he was affecting me.

“No, take a seat. What would you like to drink?” He turned and grabbed one of the green plates, serving me a generous amount.

“Water is fine.” My mouth felt weak, was I drooling? With a quick brush of my hand I made sure I wasn’t.

Sebastian turned off the stove, and grabbed everything he needed to set the table. Putting a plate of food in front of me, and another one on my right, it felt very intimate. He placed the cutlery in the middle of the table and walked back to the fridge to get us some water. Sitting down, he handed me a bottle of water. “Thank you. This smells really good.” I told him.

“I hope you like it; I didn’t ask what you wanted to eat so I hoped you had the same taste as me and made what I love.” I looked at the food, beef stir-fry. Yum.

We started digging into the food, both of us too hungry to talk. But the silence gave me the freedom to stare at him freely. I started to notice the small details. The way his hair looked when he was running his hands through it, the way he smelled; like me, he probably took a shower and I wondered how he’d look just fresh out of it. Studying Sebastian’s movements, I became entranced with every single detail. The way he held the fork between his thumb and index finger. The way his mouth looked while chewing. His Adam’s apple bobbing up and down after swallowing. God, he was hot.

Closing my eyes, I started to think of how it would feel to kiss him. I shook my head quickly, causing him to look at me. I need to snap out of it.

“Is something wrong?” His voice was low and gravely.

“No, everything’s good.” I looked at my plate, avoiding eye contact with him.

“Are you sure?”

“Yes, the food is delicious,” I said, trying to steer the conversation away from my awkwardness. “Where did you learn how to cook?”

“My mother taught me,” he said between bites, “She loves to cook and she had me and my sister helping her all the time.
